“May 9 remains the most important, most expensive holiday for us. This is the day when we honor the heroes who defended our country from Nazism, all those who selflessly brought the Great Victory closer. With pain we recall the victims of that terrible war. And of course, we give the warmth of our hearts to veterans, sharing with them the joy of the holy holiday, ”Medvedev wrote on the VKontakte social network.

Medvedev also heartily thanked veterans for an unprecedented feat in the fight against fascist invaders.

He noted that the celebrations will take place after the victory over the coronavirus.

“We will definitely congratulate each other, hug you, dear front-line soldiers, as soon as we cope with the challenge. And we will surely cope, because it was with you that we learned to win, ”he added.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed participants in the Immortal Regiment rally, which this year takes place online due to the threat of the coronavirus, and promised that Russians with portraits of their loved ones who had participated in the war would still be walking along Red Square.
