According to RIA Novosti, he made the corresponding statement during the ceremony at the Memorial of Military Glory "Eternity" in Chisinau.

“Today is a very important day for the country and for all mankind - 75 years of victory in the Great Patriotic War, more than 400 thousand Moldovan citizens took part in this war, according to official figures, about 100 thousand of them died,” he said.

The head of state urged Moldovan citizens to “remember the heroic deeds of our grandfathers” and wished veterans good health.

Other officials of the country, in particular, Prime Minister Ion Kiku and Speaker of the Parliament Zinaida Greceanii, also attended the ceremony of laying flowers at the Eternal Flame. 

Earlier, Russian cosmonauts Anatoly Ivanishin and Ivan Wagner on board the International Space Station (ISS) congratulated the Russians on Victory Day.
