China News Agency, Toronto, May 8th: The Chinese Embassy in Canada issued a notice on May 8th. According to China's domestic unified deployment, the Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Canada will assist a small number of 2020 university graduates and minors who do have serious difficulties and need to return home. Students studying abroad and other students who have serious difficulties do return to China on a temporary flight.

The embassy informed the qualified overseas students to register their personal information as soon as possible and upload their passport personal information page, graduation certificate and the signed “responsibility commitment”. Minors under the age of 18 can be registered by domestic parents or guardians in Canada. The deadline for registration is 24:00 on May 9th, Eastern Canada Time (12:00 on May 10th, Beijing Time). The flying airline will arrange for someone to call for ticket purchase.

The embassy reminded once again that the temporary flight was only to assist a few overseas students who had serious difficulties. Home protection and reducing mobility are the safest ways to protect yourself during an epidemic. The cabin space is confined, crowded, and the journey is long. The risk of cross-infection is extremely high. If there is no special urgent need, it is recommended to avoid rushing back to China.

The embassy also made advance notices on related matters. Temporary flight tickets and segregation fees for returning home shall be borne by yourself. Air ticket prices are reasonably determined by airlines according to business model. The flight attendant must bear all possible risks in the process of returning home, and consciously accept the various epidemic prevention arrangements during the flight and after entry. Minors studying abroad are required to take the flight alone, and guardians in Canada cannot accompany the plane.

The embassy reminded that those with confirmed or suspected cases, those who have symptoms of fever or cough in the past 14 days, and those who are in close contact with people infected with new coronavirus cannot book and take flights. Persons who intend to take temporary flights to return to the country need to continuously fill in personal health status, travel status and other information through the WeChat mini program of the international version of the epidemic prevention health code in advance. Passengers who conceal their medical conditions and contact history or discover that they have taken anti-pyretics and other inhibitory drugs during quarantine testing will be held accountable for the crime of endangering public safety. Parents or guardians of underage overseas students must go to designated locations to wait or accompany underage children for 14 days of centralized isolation medical observation.

There are about 850,000 Chinese citizens in Canada, including about 230,000 foreign students. There are currently about 200,000 Chinese students studying in Canada. (Finish)
