In the Central African Republic, the Special Criminal Court (CPS) announced on May 8 that it would deal with the file concerning the crimes committed in the city of Ndélé in the north of the country. A series of violence has occurred in this city in recent months, including fighting on March 6 and 11, as well as on April 29, which killed more than 40 people.

A judicial fact-finding mission led by the Attorney General of CAR accompanied by the United Nations police was carried out from 1 to 4 May. This hybrid court, made up of Central African and international members, was created in April 2015 to try the serious crimes committed on the Central African territory since January 1, 2003.

The SPC already had these crimes on its radars "  as of March 10, with the repeated events of Ndélé and Birao, whose populations express their deep concern over these killings and other serious violations of rights perpetrated by a certain number of armed groups , explains Alain Ouaby-Bekaï, Deputy Special Prosecutor of the SPC. And the prosecutor also warned the direct or indirect perpetrators in a statement that they will be wanted and prosecuted. Since that date, the public prosecutor's office has been collecting evidence and analyzing it. Recent events which have determined the mission led by the Bangui Court of Appeal have provided all the elements which could constitute, if they were established, the crimes falling within the jurisdiction of the Special Criminal Court  ”.
