Relatives with whom SVT News Skåne has spoken are strongly critical of the municipality's handling of the infection at the elderly housing Boklunden and believe that rooms where an infected person should be disinfected and cleaned professionally before a new accommodation moves in.

The head of the unit for elderly housing Boklunden does not want to comment on the criticism but refers to Lars-Åke Ståhl, Deputy Director General.

He says that the municipality has not developed new routines for cleaning an apartment where a coronas infected person lived, but that the same rules as in normal cases apply.

- A special accommodation is actually a rental place. All that has to do with the apartment is the responsibility of the residents and the relatives, if it is to be cleaned and belongings are taken care of, there is no difference to an ordinary dwelling. There are no changes or new restrictions. One must think like this if one was an infected person who did not live in housing that died somewhere no one else had cleaned and taken care of it, he says.

"Generated new ways of working"

He says that the only restriction on cleaning is that a person who has symptoms himself may not come into the house to empty or clean.

- Each step in this event development has generated new ways of working. I think you handle it in the best way based on what you know now and it is constantly changing.

The relatives also say that staff were moved between homes, even when the infection was only on one of the homes. Lars-Åke Ståh addresses this in an email to SVT News:

“Sometimes, there may be a need for care and care for the residents who require employees to work with different individuals. In such cases, routines from the Public Health Authority and infection control are followed, ”he writes.
