In March, 50,000 Swedes wanted to go home - in May, about 1,000 to 1,500 say they want to go home, says Foreign Minister Ann Linde.

- So far we have taken home about 7,000 Swedes and we have had 17 Swedish aircraft and provided over 1,000 other citizens on our planes. Now we only have the Gambia left where we have not got Swedes home. We will try this week that will bring them home, says Ann Linde of the Weekend studio.

Will a new decision

Until June 15, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against unnecessary trips abroad, which means visits and tourism - a recommendation that is unusually strong.

- It has nothing to do with the risk of infection, but we saw that you might not be able to go home simply. We are now looking at the development and there will be a new decision, says Ann Linde.

At the weekend studio, the Foreign Minister says that the new decision will come in a couple of weeks.

- You will not be able to travel freely after the fifteenth of June, you will not be able to. But it depends on how it looks in different countries, air traffic has started, we do not know now. We must follow it carefully before we can make a decision.

"Will definitely not be free to travel"

Summer is approaching and what many Swedes are wondering right now is whether it is possible to travel abroad during the holidays. But booking an overseas holiday is something Ann Linde herself would not do.

- It will definitely not be free to travel after the fifteenth of June. Exactly how long we must return to. Everyone wants it to end as soon as possible, says Ann Linde.

Linde also says that the new decision will come before June 15.

- We will not wait until June 15. We will give a new message well in advance.
