Mattarella su Moro: builder of new times against barbarization
"Today, 40 years after that tragedy, we feel the need to free the thought and political experience of Aldo Moro from that prison in which the torturers turned off his life and they pretended to enclose his memory ". This was underlined by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a passage from his speech on the occasion of the memorial day dedicated to Aldo Moro. The former president of the DC, added Mattarella, had "an extraordinary sensitivity for what moved within society. For new questions, for the hopes of young people, for the unprecedented needs that modernity brought to light". "The head of state did not escape the danger of so much 'embarrassment' of political and civil life. But at the same time he continued to scrutinize the 'new times that are advancing'. The same letters from the Brigadier prison remain proof of his humanity, his intelligence, his extraordinary
tenacity ".

Gentiloni: "His killing weighs on the conscience of the Republic"
"Forty years ago the BR left Aldo Moro's corpse in via Caetani. Italy pays homage to the memory of a true statesman. His political and cultural vision has marked our Twentieth century. His killing weighs on the conscience of the Republic ". Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni writes it on Twitter, on the anniversary of the discovery of Aldo Moro's body.

The nephew Luca: "Let us admit in writing who was the victim"
"The useless wreaths of flowers of the last forty years will burn and have the courage to admit in writing who is the victim Aldo Moro, if you're not a victim of terrorism. " This is what Luca Moro, grandson of Aldo Moro, son of the eldest daughter Maria Fida,

Martina (Pd) declares : We remember the man and the statesman Rome
"40 years have passed since the killing of Aldo Moro at the hands of the terrorists from the Red Brigades. A direct attack on our institutions, hit in the most terrible way, first with the massacre in via Fani and then with the killing of the leader of the Christian Democracy. We in the face of what happened have a duty: to remember and pass on the memory of those days, the courage and strength with which Aldo Moro faced that trial. His figure remains a model of reference for everyone. The man of dialogue was struck, the one who, in those dark years, was trying to bring Italian democracy to a more solid maturation. It was not by chance that the symbol of this path was struck. Terrorism tried to stop this process with violence and blood, the institutions were able to face this threat by resorting to the force of in democracy. A warning that we cannot and must never forget. Today we want to remember the man, the father and the statesman. "Thus Maurizio Martina, regent secretary of the Pd.

Di Maio, his death dark page in Italian history
" 40 years have passed since the discovery of the body of Aldo Moro, one of the most important of republican Italy. The story related to his disappearance is still a dark page in the history of our country. Today we remember him and all the victims of terrorism. "The leader of the 5-star Movement, Luigi Di Maio writes it on Twitter.

Chronicle of a historic day
Forty years ago Aldo Moro died, killed by the Red Brigades. A fact that shocked the Republican Italy. On 9 May 1978 the President of the Christian Democrats was found, after 55 days in the so-called 'people's prison', in the trunk of an abandoned red Renault 4 in Via Caetani. A symbolic place, halfway between Piazza del Gesù , where the national headquarters of the DC was located, and via delle Botteghe Oscure, headquarters of the Communist Party. A few hours after the discovery of the corpse, announced by a phone call from the brigatist Valerio Morucci, Francesco Cossiga resigned as Minister of the Interior. Moro's family refuses the state funeral, believing the institutions guilty of not doing enough to save his life. A few days later Pope Paul VI, friend and confessor of the statesman, celebrates a public funeral commemoration attended by numerous personalities from politics and institutions. Moro is then buried in Torrita Tiberina, where he loved to stay.
