A student at Ras Al Khaimah University of Medicine and Health Sciences, with a master’s degree in Community Health, Sumaya Obaid Al Muhairi, confirmed that she left her family in order to fulfill the nation’s call and volunteer to participate in the fight against the emerging corona virus (Covid-19), in addition to her distance studies.

Al-Muhairi told «Emirates Today» that she was summoned to volunteer at the Obaidullah Hospital in Ras Al-Khaimah, at the beginning of last March, during the school leave period, and I was proud and happy to fulfill the nation’s call to participate in the fight against “Corona”, and to provide health and medical care for cases infected with the virus.

She explained that she left her mother, sisters, and home in order to volunteer in the service of the country, citizens, and residents, pointing out that she had not seen her family for nearly a month and a half, except through visual communication (from a distance), in order to preserve their safety so that they are not a reason to transmit the virus to them .

She pointed out that her work, which lasts 12 hours a day, is focused on receiving and dealing with HIV-infected cases in the internal medicine department, according to the health mechanisms used in the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, as well as providing medical teams and helping them to wear special medical uniforms to prevent the Corona virus.

Al-Muhairi continued that she is currently working in the hospital two days a week after the return of the "distance" study so that she can complete and review the lessons and lectures from the residence of the medical cadres, in preparation for the upcoming exams.

She said: "Despite the current conditions experienced by the medical staff, their humanitarian mission is very large, because they are at the service of the country, they have abandoned many of their family lives in order to fulfill his call." Follow-up that the public interest is more important than the private, and therefore it is ready to provide more Sacrifices to fight the virus, eliminate it, and reach zero infections in the country.

Al-Muhairi stated that the medical personnel are responsible for the lives and safety of members of society, and make great efforts, putting their safety at risk in order to preserve their lives.
