• Courts.Oriol Junqueras will get more prison time to work and make up hours for confinement

Former ANC leader Jordi Sànchez and former President of the Parliament, Carme Forcadell, convicted of sedition by the Supreme Court, will be able to leave the prison for a few hours starting next Monday after the Generalitat authorized the release of the inmates in semi-freedom that they have authorized their assistance to social health entities to exercise volunteering, within the rehabilitation approved by the treatment boards in application of the 100.2 of the prison regulations.

Other sovereign leaders sentenced in prison, such as Jordi Cuixart, Josep Rull, Joaquim Forn, Jordi Turull and Dolors Bassa, have already been working for weeks in application of their 100.2, but the Secretary of Mesures Penals, Reinserció i Atenció a la Víctima del Departament de Justícia has now authorized the reinstatement of prisoners who volunteer within the de-escalation measures. The maximum restriction to contain the health emergency due to the coronavirus two months ago was the prohibition of the daily exits of all the prisoners in the penitentiary centers that are in the third degree or with the 100.2, in addition to suspending face-to-face communications with family members.

Within the lack of confinement, the Generalitat allows from Monday the inmates who collaborate with voluntary organizations or those who receive outpatient treatment to leave. However, to avoid contagions, when these prisoners who go out to the street return to prison, they will not have contact with other inmates, just as it happens with those who go out to work. The prison treatment teams have verified that social entities need volunteers again when they restart their activities.

In addition, inside the prison they will let people from collaborating entities re-enter in personalized attention of some groups, with all the precautionary measures to avoid contagions. Starting next week, Salut will carry out PCR tests on all prison officials and later on inmates in jails and juvenile justice centers. With the results, de-escalation will be planned in the prisons, where there are currently 10 inmates with Covid-19 and some 70 officials.
