The Yemeni government confirmed its support for the measures taken by the local authority in Socotra Governorate, asking the Saudi-Emirati coalition to confront the Southern Transitional Council, which promised to stop the escalation.

The Yemeni government indicated - during its meeting - the importance of resolutely addressing any attempts aimed at undermining the security and stability of the island and its residents, while fully supporting the measures taken by the local authority.

The government called on the international community and organizations - led by UNESCO - to stop what it described as sabotage threats to Socotra, which is listed on the World Heritage List.

The government denounced what it said was the looting of the UAE-backed transitional council for state resources, which it started with a decision to self-manage the areas it controlled.

The government called on the Saudi-Emirati alliance to take action, according to its statement, which confirmed the rejection of the Transitional Council's announcement of self-management.

In contrast, the transitional council in Socotra said that it would stop any escalation in response to the call of notables in the governorate, and to preserve the privacy of the blessed month of Ramadan.

In a statement after a meeting of its leaders in Socotra, the council affirmed its full support with Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and that it will work to maintain security and fight terrorism alongside Saudi forces.

The Council called on the Saudi "duty forces" in Socotra to follow up on "suspicious gatherings" and the new security barriers.

The UAE-backed Council also called on President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi to dismiss the governor of Socotra Ramzi Mahrous and remove armed appearances.

Meanwhile, the head of the local leadership of the Transitional Council in Socotra, Raafat Ali Al-Thaqali, affirmed that the council has enough power to ward off any suspicious projects that the Brotherhood Authority wants to impose.

Yemeni sources confirmed that the Saudi forces withdrew from their positions in the city of Hadibu (the center of Socotra governorate), while the Transitional Council continues to mobilize its forces, amid the silence of the Saudi forces.

A source for the island also said recently that Socotra's governor, Ramzi Mahrous, had not received any directives from the Yemeni presidency or any support to confront what was happening.
