High school students in Eskilstuna have been offered an offer that means they can buy and bring lunch from local restaurants. This means that students receive free lunch while they study at a distance, while the local business community receives financial support during the corona crisis.

Students can pick up lunch for SEK 75 per school day and so far 67 local companies with restaurant operations in Eskilstuna have joined the service.

More than half have used the offer

After the first five days that the service has been active, more than 2,400 students have registered. About 70 percent of all students could use the service.

- But then we have the number of unique buyers, that is, how many who really used the service. There we end up at 57 percent. Almost 2,000 students have used the service - and that is very positive, says Niklas Edmark, Business Director at Eskilstuna.

SEK 500,000 in five days

In the first five days, 7,261 student lunches were sold in Eskilstuna. This means that until now municipal-subsidized lunches have been sold for more than half a million SEK.

- It's good for the local business community. We had some problems with the technology in the beginning, but now it seems to work, says Niklas Edmark.
