- Right now we see that there are 400 tests per day that we can pass, says the regional council Kaisa Karro (S).

That would mean 2800 tests per week in Östergötland. Kaisa Karro (S) does not want to say whether the government's request for 100,000 tests per week is reasonable or not. To double the number of tests in Östergötland is the level that Region Östergötland is currently able to handle.

The region says that they will now test all health care and nursing staff who have symptoms. This also applies to the municipalities 'care and care staff, as well as housing in the municipalities' special housing.

Reduce the spread of infection

On the one hand, the region wants to do the tests to reduce the spread of infection, and on the other hand to be able to quickly take back sick-written staff without coronas infection as quickly as possible. Today, staff have to stay at home for a certain period of time for safety, even if it is a common cold symptom.

The Government's wish is also that staff in other socially important activities other than health care should be able to be tested. It does not see Region Östergötland as possible at present. The region wants to have the ability to do both tests and provide care for a long time to come.
