Qatar's Foreign Minister: The region is on the verge of exploding unless its countries circumvent reform and cooperation

Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani warned that the situation in the Middle East, in light of the blockade of the State of Qatar, the Iranian-Saudi and Iranian-American tensions, and in Iraq, Yemen and others, in addition to the absence of internal reforms; all of this places the region on the brink of an explosion.

The Qatari minister stressed in an online debate with the American Johns Hopkins University, that the countries of the region should cooperate with each other if they wanted to overcome these conditions.

He said that all these tensions and conflicts raise concerns, in addition to the presence of countries that are unable to manage governance and carry out internal reforms that would enable them to deal with any future crises.

And he added that there is an epidemic of all that. "Coffid-19, which came as a grain of cherry on top of sweets, I think we have a complete recipe for the explosion in the region, unless we pay attention to the reform and cooperation between the countries of the region."

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul-Rahman Al-Thani emphasized that the war in Yemen deviated from its destination, and that its aim was to start protecting the borders of Saudi Arabia and establishing the legitimate government, but it later became clear that it had taken place without a specific strategy and declared goals.

As for Libya, the Qatari Foreign Minister said that the path to resolve the conflict is clear, and that everyone should stop supporting the parties to the conflict, and let the Libyans reach an agreement among them, stressing that the international community should not equate the legitimate government with those who turned against it.

"Nothing will be resolved in Libya unless the international community realizes that it cannot deal with this situation with double standards.
