For SVT, Elisabeth Antfolk tells us that calls from members working at Berga's retirement home started coming in a few weeks ago.

- We were called by members who, during ongoing illness, have been ordered to work even though they have described being sick with headaches and coughs which are very typical symptoms of corona, she says and continues:

- Despite this, you maintained that you would come in and work and if you did not come in it would be considered as an illegal absence and that is the reason for dismissal.

"I think it's awful"

Following SVT's contact with the Municipal Section Chair, she has also written about the events in a debate article in the trade magazine Kommunalarbearen. The debate article is, she says, a mark against the management after they have denied abuse to the housing both after the local safety representative reports the housing to the Swedish Work Environment Authority and after staff have testified about the same types of abuse conditions for SVT.

What do you think about the situation?

- I think it is awful that our members are exposed to this situation. Primarily, it is seldom we ourselves think about if you are ill without what you can expose the elderly to, she says.

What happens now?

- We are still waiting for an assessment from the Swedish Work Environment Authority. In the meantime, we are trying with local security officers to support the members with what they need help and support with, she concludes.

SVT is looking for Berga's management
