China News Service, May 8, according to the website of the General Administration of Market Supervision, on May 6, 2020, the General Administration of Market Supervision (Standards Committee) officially released the recommended national standard GB / T38880-2020 "Children's Mask Technical Specifications". Implemented from the date of release.

The recommended national standard for the Technical Specification for Children ’s Masks stipulates the basic requirements, appearance quality, and test methods for masks for children from 6 to 14 years of age. It also proposes 19 main performance indicators.

In terms of protection performance, children's protective masks require particulate filtering efficiency of not less than 95% and protective effect of not less than 90%; children's sanitary masks require particulate filtering efficiency of not less than 90% and bacterial filtering efficiency of not less than 95%.

In terms of comfort performance, considering the respiratory characteristics of children's physiological development stage, children's protective masks require that the expiratory resistance and inhalation resistance are not higher than 45Pa; that children's sanitary masks require that the ventilation resistance is not higher than 30Pa. In terms of wearing comfort of the mask, the standard recommends the use of adjustable mask straps.

In terms of safety performance, the mask should be able to cover the mouth, nose, and mandible safely and firmly. There should be no sharp tips and edges that can be touched, and it should not significantly affect the visual field. The raw materials of the mask should not use recycled materials and materials that can cause adverse reactions. It should be bleached with chlorine; the mask equipped with a breathing valve, the breathing valve should be firm and not deformed, and the internal parts should not fall off; the strap mask strap should not be used; the nose clip should withstand 20 folds without breaking; the inner layer material of the mask Should not be printed or dyed. The standard strictly stipulates the residual of harmful substances, the content of formaldehyde is not higher than 20mg / kg; the printed pattern on the outer layer of the mask should not fade, and the decomposable carcinogenic aromatic ammonia dye is prohibited; the residual amount of ethylene oxide sterilization should not exceed 2μg / g; No migratable fluorescent whitening substance shall be detected. The standard also stipulates that the microbiological indicators should meet the requirements of disposable hygiene products.

The recommended national standard of "Children's Mask Technical Specifications" gives clear warnings on the wearing of children's masks. For example, children should wear masks under the care of adults, and caregivers should observe and teach children to wear masks correctly. Children should not slap or engage in moderate and above-intensity exercise while wearing the mask, and should not disassemble the breathing valve and internal components of the breathing valve; if symptoms such as respiratory discomfort and skin allergies occur during wearing, the mask should be removed in time, and immediately if necessary See a doctor. The mask should be replaced in time. It is not recommended to reuse the mask after washing. The used masks cannot be exchanged. Children with breathing difficulties are not recommended to wear masks. When using it, you should clean out the objects that are not related to the wearing of the mask, etc.

The recommended national standard for "Children's Mask Technical Specifications" is proposed by the China National Textile and Apparel Council, under the jurisdiction of the National Textile Standardization Technical Committee, and organized by the China Industrial Textile Industry Association for medical devices, personal protection, medical hygiene, ergonomics, textile materials, and testing. Experts in this field jointly completed the preparation work. The standards provide the basis for the correct selection and wearing of child masks, standardizing the order of competition in the industry, and strengthening market supervision, and provide technical support and standard guarantees for the production of child masks.
