It was the man in the couple who made shopping trips to Germany, the customs have noted 20 trips from January 2018 to June 2019. A total of 1,800 liters of alcohol in the form of cider, beer and spirits have been smuggled across the border. The man has constantly denied crime but has not been able to give any real explanation as to why he has visited Germany twenty times. He has stated that he has bought some bottled beers that he has sold to friends, who may then have sold them to young people.

Underage salesman

According to the judgment, the woman has received phone orders, handed over the alcohol and paid. Customers have in some cases been for fifteen years and the couple's own daughter, who is a minor, has participated in the sale. The woman herself has repeatedly denied the crime, saying that she only gave alcohol to her husband's friends.

The testimonies during the trial draw a completely different picture of the business than the couple's own. No less than twenty-seven young people testified that they, or a friend, bought alcohol from the couple in their apartment in central Sundsvall. A witness also told me he bought the man from a car outside a party room where only young people aged 18 stayed.

Sentenced to prison

In its judgment, Sundsvall District Court states that the spouses' sales are particularly blameworthy because they are aimed at young people. The man in the couple is now convicted of gross smuggling and gross illegal sale of alcohol to prison for one year and six months, the woman is convicted of gross illegal sale of alcohol to six months in prison.

When the police hit the couple's apartment, SEK 200,000 in cash and 900 liters of alcohol were seized. The couple does not get back what was seized.
