Stop in Mjölby

In the reports, for example, employers report that nurses and under-nurses have risked becoming infected and ill after treating patients who have covid-19 disease.

In Mjölby, work on a care home was stopped by the safety representative on April 22. The safety representative required comprehensive protective clothing for the staff.

"Off-year routines"

- It is alarming with so many serious incidents, but it is good that employers report. Then it comes to the surface and they can start working to prevent more incidents. Many good efforts are being made in health care to minimize risks in the work environment, but at the same time we know that after all events occur where you miss assessments and routines, especially in elderly care, says Erna Zelmin-Ekenhem, Director General of the Work Environment Authority, in a press release.

Lack of protective equipment

The Swedish Work Environment Authority has received about 80 safety ombud stops, and just over 140 requests for measures from safety ombuds, where they alert about defects in the infection protection linked to the new corona virus.

Almost half of the safety ombud stop, which is the safeguarding agent's strongest tool, namely stopping the work, is about access to personal protective equipment in care and elderly care.
