In mid-March, border trade closed and has been extended in several steps. It has become a nightmare for all companies that feed on immigrant Norwegians.

"It's pretty tough, especially in the border trade, which has lost 90-95 percent," says Daniel Schützer, Social Democratic Municipal Council in Årjäng.

Affecting the Norwegians

According to Daniel Schützer, together with the other border municipalities in the county, meetings have been held with the county administrative board and the governor about what can do about the situation.

- He should talk to his counterpart in the People's Council and see if they can influence them to open earlier, says Scützer.

Hope for dialogue

Johanna Söderström, center partisan municipal council in Eda, is also hoping for help from the policy to open the borders and save the border trade, which is very hard exposed in Charlottenberg's various shopping facilities.

- We hope that there will be a dialogue between the Swedish and Norwegian government. But the Swedish government cannot open the border, says Johanna Söderström.

"Disaster" with closed border this summer

There are indications that the Norwegian government wants to keep the border closed even during the summer.

- It would be a total disaster, then a large number of companies would go bankrupt, says Daniel Schützer (S).
