The United Nations General Assembly Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People warned that the Israeli annexation of parts of the West Bank is a "threat to a two-state solution".

The committee, in a statement issued yesterday evening, said that while the world's attention has shifted to combating the "Covid-19" pandemic, the Palestinian people who are suffering under the yoke of the Israeli occupation are facing an additional crisis, represented in the threat to annex their lands, as Israel continued to consolidate the illegal occupation And declared clearly its intention to annex large areas of the occupied Palestinian territory, while continuing the siege of the Gaza Strip.

The Committee urged the international community, especially the Security Council, to assume its responsibilities, and to take urgent measures to address the threat of annexation and protect the rights of the Palestinian people.

It also urged Israel to respond to the long-standing demand to stop its illegal actions and practices in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and East Jerusalem, including all measures aimed at consolidating the occupation and annexation of territories, and called on it to ensure full respect for the human rights of the Palestinian civilian population under its control, and to provide access and humanitarian assistance, Including preventing the spread of the "Covid-19" epidemic.

In Ramallah, the Palestinian Minister of Health, May Alkila, announced yesterday that he had recorded a new infection with the Corona Virus for a Palestinian citizen from Hebron, bringing the death toll in the West Bank, occupied Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip to 547.

She added in a press statement that the village of Al-Samu ', in Hebron Governorate, was closed due to the large number of injuries in it.
