Dozens of calls in one evening, insults, threats and strong aggression. On Tuesday, a 37-year-old man, living in Rillieux-la-Pape near Lyon, was sentenced to six months suspended prison sentence for "for contempt of the person depositing public authority and malicious calls" for attacking the police.

On the evening of April 29, this man had called on the 17th after a dispute with a driver of public transport in Lyon. Not satisfied with the answer given by phone, he went in stride to the police station in Rillieux, being very aggressive. The police, considering that no offense was characterized with regard to the dispute with the driver, asked him to leave the premises. But the furious 30-year-old had refused to leave the police station and a policeman had to use a tear gas canister to make him leave, reports Le Progrès.

Back home, the man had not calmed down however. He then called the police station 76 times in less than two hours, outraging the person on the phone. Then he continued to call every day until last Sunday. That evening, when a patrol was on the street, he recognized a policewoman and verbally insulted her.

He was then arrested and placed in police custody. In addition to his suspended prison sentence, the man also received an obligation to care and work. He will have to compensate the policewoman, victim, and has the prohibition to come into contact with her.
