The State Electoral Commission noted that in connection with special measures introduced because of the pandemic since April 16, the powers of the State Electoral Commission to establish a sample and print ballots were suspended in Poland.

"Depriving the state election commission of the legal ability to print ballots made it impossible to vote in the presidential elections of the Republic of Poland on May 10, 2020," the RIA Novosti statement said.

Earlier, the leader of the Polish ruling party Law and Justice, Jaroslav Kaczynski, said that the presidential election would not be held on May 10.

In late April, Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament of Poland Tomasz Grodski called for a postponement of the presidential election due to COVID-19.
