It is proposed to raise the ceiling in the a-box from day 100 onwards. The increase is from SEK 760 to SEK 1,000 per day. The increase is temporary and applies from June 29, 2020 to January 3, 2021.

The Government has previously increased the compensation for the first 100 days to SEK 1,200 per day.

waiting period

The reimbursement for the first day of sickness - the so-called waiting day - which originally would have been valid until 31 May, is proposed to be extended for four months to 30 September.

At the same time, compensation will be increased by SEK 104 from June 1. This means that anyone who has been ill and receives a salary deduction on salary can apply for compensation of SEK 804 from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, compared with previous decisions which were SEK 700 and were criticized.

"This means that a bus driver will have a much better opportunity to get through this crisis," said Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson (S).

The press conference also included Emil Källström (C), Mats Persson (L) and Finance Minister Per Bolund (MP) who provided a note for the new proposals for measures presented on Thursday.

- The total costs are SEK 15 billion. These are expenses that will benefit greatly, Per Bolund said.

Medical certificate

The delayed requirement for medical certificates wants the government and the partnering parties to extend to September 30 to reduce the burden on healthcare. The temporary rules mean that a person does not need a medical certificate during the first 14 days of sickness in order to receive sick pay or sick pay,

Sick pay

It is proposed that the state aid to cover companies' sick pay costs be extended to include June and July.

"From the first two months, we will double that until last July," Emil Källström (C) said.

Self-employed

Support for self-employed persons who are sick is also proposed to be extended from 31 May to 30 September. This means that self-employed persons are entitled to compensation of SEK 804 per day for the first 14 days. 

"The cost of it is SEK 250 million," said Mats Persson (L).
