07 May 2020 The International Monetary Fund "must necessarily pay attention" to the issue of 'debt forgiveness', that is, the cancellation, even partial, of debts after the economic shock of the coronavirus.

This was said by IMF director general Kristalina Georgieva during an event hosted by Bloomberg according to which "The public debt will rise by thirty percentage points to 96% of world GDP due to the right response on a large scale through budget measures".

On the same occasion, after the sentence of the German constitutional judges, the president of the ECB Christine Lagarde said "let's go on undisturbed" and assured: the ECB "will continue to do whatever it takes to pursue its mandate".
