The latest extension of the state of alarm has caused strong tensions in both Ciudadanos and the PP. The agreement of Pedro Sánchez and Inés Arrimadas has caused several slamming doors in the liberal formation. And this Thursday, the day after the Plenary Session of Congress, Albert Rivera has also spoken out against this measure.

The former president of Ciudadanos, who resigned last November after the electoral debacle of his party, echoes today on Twitter an article by Professor of Administrative Law Andrés Betancor in EL MUNDO. In the same, titled "There is plan B, but the king is naked", Betancor defends that the alarm state could be ended, but it must be replaced by another form of intervention to allow controlling the effects of the pandemic.

Albert Rivera does not refer to Inés Arrimadas' decision to support the extension in Congress. He only quotes one of the harshest paragraphs in the article: "The Government's recalcitrant defense of the state of alarm is that of a situation of institutional abnormality, of general restriction of rights to excruciating extremes, without sufficient support in constitutional legality."

The former liberal leader abandoned politics last November, after his party sank from 57 deputies to just 10. Last March, he signed as chief executive of a law firm. Since then, he has not given interviews and only occasionally speaks about current affairs on Twitter. On several occasions, he has shown very tough positions with the Government, more aggressive than those of his party, which has spent months reaching out to the Prime Minister to combat the pandemic.

The government pact with Cs has so far led to the departure of Juan Carlos Girauta, who was a liberal parliamentary spokesman in Congress, who has unsubscribed from the party. Carina Mejías, a transfer from the PP and who was a spokesperson at the Barcelona City Council, has also left.

Critics were no longer on any party leadership body, although they were very important in the past. The current leadership has closed ranks with Arrimadas and defends the vote in favor to "be useful" to citizens. The barons of Cs have done the same, like Ignacio Aguado or Francisco Igea, who have spoken in favor.

The signatory of the article, Andrés Betancor, was a member of the Citizen Manager and is a leader very close to the previous orange leadership .
