The Commander in Chief of Sharjah Police, Major General Saif Al-Zari Al-Shamsi, confirmed that the number of family cases in the emirate decreased by 50% during the current crisis, compared to what happened in the same period last year.

Al-Shamsi added during the fourth annual media meeting of the Sharjah Police, which was held remotely, that the current crisis led to a significant decrease in traffic accidents during the first quarter of this year, as it recorded 14 deaths compared to 39 deaths during the same period last year.

And that the proportion of disturbing crimes also decreased significantly, as the number of cases that were transferred to the criminal laboratory since the beginning of the current year reached 3,000 cases, compared to 5,000 in the same period last year.

Al-Shamsi pointed out that two people were arrested and referred to the prosecution for allegedly spreading false rumors.

He said that one of the rumors spread through a video clip on social media, that an ambulance was present in the car registration village to pick up a person with "Corona".

The liberation of 3,901 violations was confirmed for people who were not committed to the decisions to restrict traffic during the period of national sterilization, including 2176 violations against people who left their homes unnecessarily, and for reasons of work, and 1725 violations against drivers who exceeded the number of passengers allowed inside the vehicle during the period from April 6 to yesterday .

He stressed that there is a careful follow-up with the Ministry of Emiratisation and Human Resources regarding the issue of salaries, and coordination with the owners of companies not to delay it.

He indicated that the police are coordinating with all parties to contribute to humanitarian work during the current crisis, pointing out that the Ambassador of the State of Nepal in the UAE communicates with the police to report workers from his community who cannot secure their supplies. Al-Shamsi stressed the determination of the company they work for, adding that the police provided them with a building and provided their daily needs.
