An investigation is underway in Croatia after the discovery of the body of a 24-year-old Frenchman in a forest in the northwest of the country. Police sources say the victim was strangled.
The remains were found on March 20 near the coastal town of Rijeka. An autopsy revealed that the young man had been the victim of a homicide, the Croatian police said in a statement, refusing to give any further details "in the interest of the investigation".

According to the daily Jutarnji List , he is a 24-year-old Frenchman, which a source close to the investigation confirmed. The victim was strangled before the body was transported into the woods and sprayed with gasoline. No further details were provided. The French Embassy in Zagreb declined to comment.
