The staff of Serafen's elderly home in Stockholm must have both visor and mouth protection when working near covid patients. It struck down the Work Environment Authority just before Easter.

But the decision was appealed by the City of Stockholm, and last week the Administrative Court ruled that the Swedish Work Environment Authority's decision was too ambiguous and would be repealed.

But now it is clear that the Swedish Work Environment Authority will not accept the judgment, but will appeal it.

Crack after pressure

The case has led to a deep conflict within the authority, which has been subjected to extensive pressure from, among other things, the organization SKR to tone down and change its line in the case.

SVT's review has shown that, among other things, it erased an expert opinion which stated that mere visor is not enough to protect the health care staff against infection. The revelations have aroused strong reactions from unions, experts and politicians alike.
