The Samoan pillar Census Johnston, now in France in Bayonne (Top 14), announced that he was retiring on Wednesday, the day of his 39th birthday.

"Fa'afetai, thank you and thank you", the player soberly posted on his Twitter account, a message accompanied by the hashtag "retirement".

Johnston, born in New Zealand but international with Manu Samoa - Samom of the Samoan team - (60 selections), arrived in France in 2006 where he performed, apart from three years spent in Saracens (England) , most of his career.

From Biarritz (2006) to Racing 92 (2017-2019) via the Stade Toulousain (2009-2017), the pillar has won the Brennus Shield three times (2006 with the BO, 2011 and 2012 with Toulouse), crowning the champion of France, as well as a European Cup (2010 with Toulouse). He also competed in three World Cups (2007, 2011, 2015).
