Martello, the island is on its knees
"The sea is clear and calm. There is calm and the risk is that the arrivals of migrants will continue. We no longer know where to put them: probably a part of the 220 that are on the Favarolo pier will go to the hotspot that has remained free, while the others will remain on the pier awaiting tomorrow's transfer, "said the mayor of Lampedusa Toto Martello. "I know that the envelopes for the quarantine ship have been opened at the Ministry of Infrastructure - he explained - but we still do not know the outcome nor what will happen in the next few days. Only from the Ministry of the Interior did they make themselves heard and today they reassured us on the fact that will activate all possible procedures to get the quarantine ship quickly. " The mayor is controversial with the government: "There is a lot of talk about restarting, it would be the case that the Minister of Economy occasionally replied to the letters that arrive from Lampedusa, if only to get feedback. There is not only the dramatic double emergency coronavirus and immigration. There is also the economic one: Lampedusa is on his knees ".
