“On May 6, a ceremony will be held for Germany to transmit the first batch of digitized documents about Soviet citizens contained in German camps during the Great Patriotic War,” the press service of the Russian Embassy said.

The ceremony will be attended by German Ambassador to Russia Geza Andreas von Geir and Russian President’s Special Representative for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydky.

“On our side, the sources for the upcoming ceremony were transferred, while the digitization project continues,” said Tobias Herrmann, an employee of the German Federal Archives.

In March, the German ambassador announced plans to transfer to Russia in April information about several thousand Soviet prisoners of war who were in German concentration camps.
