The Covid-19 epidemic left 278 more dead in 24 hours in France Wednesday May 6, bringing the total toll to at least 25,809 deaths since March 1, the Directorate General of Health said on Wednesday. Specifically 16,237 deaths in hospitals and 9,572 in nursing homes and other medico-social establishments.

The pressure on resuscitation services continues to ease, with 283 Covid-19 patients less, while the provisional deconfinement map still has 27 departments in red in mainland France, the others being in orange or green.

A total of 23,983 people are hospitalized for coronavirus infection and 833 new admissions were recorded in 24 hours.
