It started with the now typical covid symptoms. Owe Svensson, 76, received dry cough and fever.

- We were worried almost immediately and afraid it would be corona, says her daughter Astrid.

In the Morning Studio, Owe Svensson now talks about how he experienced the disease course. That he quickly became worse and worse.

- I started tackling and doing strange things, I just wanted to sleep. Now afterwards I think it's so uncomfortable, he says.

"Getting touched when I think about it"

The fever rose to 40 degrees and in a conversation with eldest daughter Karin he fainted. The last thing Owe remembers before he was sedated and put in a respirator is that the medical staff took him off the clock.

- It's a very dear property. I looked at the staff and thought, "What do they do with it?", And then it was gone for weeks.

Owe lay numb in the respirator for a week. On the third attempt, the medical staff succeeded in waking him up.

- I get so moved when I think about it. It was a nurse who took my hand and put it on her hand and hugged. Then I woke up, and everyone was happy.

Applauded by the staff

For four to five days, Owe remained on intensive care before he could be transferred to an infections ward.

- Then they rolled out my bed in the corridor and there are 35 doctors and nurses and applauded and shouted my name.

He has got back the clock, but after three weeks on the intensive muscles have disappeared and the watch bracelet is at the last hole.

- I'm weak, but I'm walking with rods now and things are getting better and better. Every day has been a lift, says Owe Svensson.
