In Paris, a tension zone classified as "red", the deconfinement should be careful. The City is starting work to facilitate circulation by bicycle or on foot and a timetable for the reopening of public spaces is being specified, always with its share of uncertainties. Europe 1 takes stock of what we know about the measures that will be implemented in the capital.

While the City of Paris specifies the contours of its deconfinement, it is confirmed that the face of the capital should change radically in the coming weeks. The transport network must be redesigned to allow workers to return to their companies while the reopening of public places is accompanied by the installation of sanitary facilities.

Prioritize walking and cycling

Work has already started on thirty streets of the capital to give priority to walking and cycling. The rue de Rivoli will for example be completely emptied of its cars. In the narrowest streets, markings on the ground will also be installed for pedestrians. Cyclists will be able to take advantage of nearly 200 kilometers of temporary cycle paths in Paris as well as in the neighboring departments.

"It is clear that the car cannot be an option," says Christophe Nadjovski, the city's transport assistant. Its objective is to avoid an embolism on the roads by offering an alternative to the car: "If only 10% of its users [of line 13] refer to the private car, it is one and a half times the traffic that we had on the banks of the Seine, so the equivalent of a three-lane urban highway in the heart of Paris. Distribution of cloth masks from May 11

The town hall also announced the reopening of all markets, covered and uncovered, from next Tuesday. For "small museums" such as the Petit Palais or Maison Balzac, the reopening will not take place before June 15, or even August for the most important theaters and museums.

If the department remains classified "red", the question would be more complicated for parks and gardens. The city hopes to be able to reopen the parks without play areas, structures which however are impossible to disinfect. The gardens should also be equipped with hydroalcoholic gel dispensers, such as bus shelters or public toilets.
