Many people today choose not to take driving lessons and read theory at a traffic school. In the statistics it can be read that in that group most people find it difficult to pass the first run-up and theory test at the Swedish Transport Administration.

- Of all privately reported driving tests B, for passenger cars and light trucks, in the country, in 2019, 31.53 per cent of the driver's tests were approved, compared to 65 per cent for traffic school-reported driveways, says Cecilia Borgljung, head of the Swedish Transport Administration.

- There are disastrously poor statistics among private educators and a threat to road safety. We have seen a downward trend throughout the 2000s, ”says Berit Johansson, associate chair of Sweden's traffic trainers' federation.

Re-examination requires resources

If you look at regional figures, for example, the driver tests for B driving licenses made in Linköping show even lower figures for last year.

- In Linköping, driver's tests are even lower than in Sweden. 28 per cent of the driver's tests were approved for private applicants, compared to 64 per cent for those who had their education in a traffic school, says Berit Johansson.

- It is true that statistics for traffic school registered customers generally look better than for private registered users. We like to see our customers come only once. Many re-tests mean that more resources are needed and we want our customers to be well prepared, says Cecilia Borgljung.
