When presenting his deconfinement plan, Prime Minister Édouard Philippe had maintained his confidence in the project, which was criticized by the majority.

He had reaffirmed that he wanted to submit it to a debate followed by a vote in the National Assembly "  when the application under development will work and before its implementation  ".

Apple and Google out of the running

The development time is progressing relatively well, with a test phase starting next week , " said Cédric O. It will be followed by a presentation to parliamentarians and then a planned deployment "  during the second phase of deconfinement from 2 June  ".

The secretary of state has now excluded a partnership with the American giants Apple and Google, which control the two large global application stores (App Store and Google Play Store) and want to quickly offer a common base for a contact tracking application .

The solution offered by Apple and Google does not suit us in terms of privacy and control of the healthcare system. #StopCovid pic.twitter.com/zw7uj4MmiQ

Solutions Apple and Google "  arise, we believe a number of problems in terms of protection of privacy and in terms of interconnection with the health system  ," said Cedric O

We will have a solution that will work very satisfactorily on all phones and we consider that the control of the health system, the fight against the coronavirus, it is the business of the States [...]  not necessarily that big American companies  , "he added.

A controversial application

Many countries have adopted or are developing applications for contact tracing smartphones . They are intended to alert a user of contact with a person infected with the new coronavirus. And must accompany their thorny strategy for getting out of containment.

These mobile applications, on a voluntary basis or imposed by the authorities, particularly in Asia, are raising debates around the world on questions of efficiency, confidentiality, use of data and respect for private life.
