The congestion checks were carried out on election evening and Saturday evening to see if the restaurants follow the guidelines of the Public Health Authority. Fifteen taverns were on the list, but some were closed. On Saturday, May 2, checks were made at six locations in central Hudiksvall.

More tables can be removed

- There was no congestion, but we still felt that there were people in motion, says Chatrin Molin, environmental and health protection inspector at the Norrhälsinge environmental office, who was on Saturday's inspection.

Some restaurants could have removed more tables or marked more clearly where guests were not allowed to sit. But as there was a hassle with pub guests, there was no congestion.

- If it ever happens that there will be more people, it is good if they have passed out, says Chatrin Molin.

Must sit down and drink

There are challenges other than just crowding the taverns during the corona pandemic.

- With alcohol in the body, there are people who forget or don't care, says Chatrin Molin.

Nowadays, guests are not allowed to leave their table and walk around with the beer glass, for example.

Risk of increased pressure with the heat

- They need to be reminded that you sit down and eat and drink now. Some places have crowded hosts, or guards, who walk and watch it, says Chatrin Molin.

She sees a risk of increased pressure on the taverns as the weather gets warmer. Norrhälsinge Environment Office will conduct additional congestion checks this summer.
