Last week, three intensive care teams traveled from the Blekinge Hospital to Sörmland to help in the county most affected by the corona virus. The team, which consisted of anesthesiologists and intensive care nurses, served in Eskilstuna and Nyköping.

Marie-Louise König and Karoline Gröndahl are two of the intensive care nurses who recently returned from Sörmland.

- When the question came, it felt natural to help, says Marie-Louise König.

"Two different worlds"

Karoline Gröndahl points out that there are major differences in how hard the corona virus has hit the two counties.

- There are really two different worlds if you talk covid-19. We have no corona patient on the intensive care unit in Blekinge now. At the department we worked in, they had between 11 and 13 patients in the respirator, she says.

The two intensive care nurses feel that Region Blekinge is well prepared for an deteriorating coronal situation in the county.

- Personally, I feel better prepared after these days in Sörmland. I feel that we will solve this in Blekinge if everyone helps. We are good at that care, says Karoline Gröndahl.

During Monday's press conference, Region Blekinge announced that it has decided to send two new intensive care teams to Region Sörmland. The team consists of two doctors, four nurses and a nurse and the first goes up to Nyköping today.
