The Presidents of Pro D2 have spoken "unambiguously" and "unanimously" on the maintenance of the second rugby division with sixteen teams, according to a letter sent by the UCPR to the LNR and that AFP is procured.

"Unanimously, the sixteen clubs speak out unambiguously on the maintenance of the sporting and economic model which has enabled the Pro D2 to be recognized as an attractive championship", explains this letter from the union of pro clubs addressed, after a meeting Monday, to the president of the League Paul Goze.

The presidents of Pro D2 thus oppose a transition to eighteen clubs, mentioned by the French Rugby Federation.

The FFR, which wishes to integrate Albi and Massy, leaders of Federal 1, suggested extending the Pro D2 to eighteen teams, divided into two pools of nine.

"Professional clubs are now facing, like all of their partners and supporters, an unprecedented crisis; the maintenance of the current format must be obvious in this context", details the letter.
