04 May 2020Family, children and domestic violence are the themes at the heart of Pope Francis' homily during the usual morning mass in Santa Marta.

"We pray for families today: in this time of quarantine, the family, closed at home, tries
to do many new things, a lot of creativity with the children, with everyone, to go on. And also the other thing, which sometimes there is, like domestic violence. Let us pray for families to continue in peace with creativity and patience in this quarantine. " 

A phenomenon of domestic violence recrudescing during solitary confinement. 

In his homily Bergoglio also recalled that Jesus wants unity in the Church: 'we must overcome the temptation of divisions', he said.
