After having recently said that he could one day succeed Jean-Michel Aulas at the head of Olympique Lyonnais, Tony Parker said on Monday to The Undefeated site that his "ultimate goal" was to buy an NBA franchise from here " five to ten years. "
"The ultimate goal is to one day own an NBA franchise," said Parker, who will soon join the board of directors of OL Groupe, the holding company which heads the Ligue 1 club led by Jean-Michel Aulas and which owns shares in Asvel, the club run by TP.
"With OL Groupe, we dream big. It is a strong possibility. At present, we have other goals and objectives. But in five to ten years ... I have always been the kind of person to dream big. I've already had discussions with (Aulas) about this, "he added.
The latter, aged 71, has discussed in recent weeks the possibility of handing over to Parker in four or five years. This was confirmed on Friday by the young retired prosecutor, believing on OLTV that "it's perfect to learn over four or five years" for such a responsibility.
For now, the former leader, quadruple NBA champion is OL's ambassador abroad. He also integrated up to 3% of the capital of the women's football club Reign FC of the American star Megan Rapinoe (renamed OL Reign), OL Groupe, holding 89.5% since December.
As such, despite his role as president of Asvel and his growing involvement in OL Groupe, Parker has indicated that he intends to stay in the United States where he has lived for 20 years.
