In order to prepare for the deconfinement, the city of Nantes had ordered masks in mid-April for each of its inhabitants. No less than 600,000 cloth masks, washable and reusable 50 times, meeting Afnor standards, must therefore be delivered to Nantes residents. The first lots have arrived and distribution even started with La Poste at the end of last week, confirms the town hall. An explanatory leaflet is supplied with. Shipments will continue over the next few days and probably until the end of next week.

“These Afnor general public masks protect others and can provide protection if everyone is wearing them. Indeed, they act as collective protection by limiting the spread of the coronavirus by micro-droplets during sneezing, a cough and speech ", justifies the city of Nantes, which advises to wear them in public transport common, shops and all local services. These are not surgical or FFP2 masks, reserved mainly for caregivers.

Not necessarily bought in France

These masks come from several orders placed in France and in Europe. The first major delivery comes, for example, from a factory in Portugal. A stock will be made available to associations.

The order from the city of Nantes has been grouped with several municipalities in Nantes metropolis. The local distribution of the masks is carried out according to the methods fixed by the different municipalities (withdrawal points, postal items, etc.).
