Mahmoud Rafidah - Tripoli

The forces of the National Accord government are awaiting instructions to advance towards the city of Tarhuna, west of Libya, after cutting supplies to the gunmen of retired Major General Khalifa Haftar, south of Tripoli, and the escalation of the dispute within the forces and tribes in the east of the country.

The city of Tarhuna - which is about 90 km south of Tripoli - is one of the most important strongholds of Haftar in western Libya, as the city is considered a major gathering and starting point for Haftar forces towards the south of Tripoli.

The differences between the Speaker of the House of Representatives Aqila Saleh and some tribes increased with Haftar after the latter announced the coup against the political agreement, including the House of Representatives in Tobruk, and the inauguration of himself to manage the country's affairs.

Aqeela Saleh appeared in a leaked video while he was in a meeting between his tribe Al-Obaidat in the Al-Qubbah region, underestimating the step of Haftar's mandate to rule, and warning that the international community would not recognize any future government. He also called for not being dragged into the launch of a new constitutional declaration.

Analysts believe that Haftar's failure to achieve any field progress in the fighting axes south of Tripoli has raised the level of popular anger among the tribes, after being blamed for hundreds of youths, belonging to the tribes of eastern Libya, and killed in the war in Tripoli.

The Al-Wefaq government air force increased its strikes on the sites of Haftar forces and the main and subsidiary supply routes, continuing targeting fuel trucks, food supplies, ammunition and arms convoys, which were directed to Haftar forces in Tarhuna and from there to the fighting hubs south of Tripoli.

Hfter went too far
and is a member of the Supreme Council of the State Belkacem Dberz that the persistence of Hfter in its aggression on the capital Tripoli made it important to drop his stronghold in Tarhuna, to paralyze the militia movement in western Libya.

"Hifter received painful blows after the liberation of the cities of the West Coast and the killing of a large number of his most important leaders in Tripoli, and in the Al-Washaka area east of Misrata, in conjunction with internal problems among his supporters," Dabars added to Al-Jazeera Net.

"Haftar suffers at all levels and his situation is getting worse after his coup against those close to him, and he is now reaping the fruit of the killing of hundreds of civilians, the displacement of families, the management of facilities and homes, and the country’s heavy financial losses by closing the oil," he added.

Dabars confirms that the UAE is seeking to save its ally Haftar by mobilizing mercenaries to send them to Libya, to support Tarhuna militias, in addition to working to calm the charged situation between the tribes in eastern Libya, after Haftar's coup against the House of Representatives in Tobruk.

Setbacks and rifts
On his part, political analyst Salah Al-Bakoush believes that the result of Haftar's military setbacks in the West and the Accordance Forces ’approach to a pledge caused cracks in the home front loyal to Haftar.

He adds to Al-Jazeera Net, "It is easy to know the division in Camp Hifter, and we have previously seen cracks on his internal front. The fate of the violators was imprisonment and their release after tribal interventions."

Al-Bakoush affirms that it is too early to talk about the strength of these cracks and their impact on the general situation in Camp Haftar, and these cracks may continue, and he may succeed in concealing them with the support of his allies.

Al-Bakoush demands that the Al-Wefaq government invest any division and movements such as those that occurred recently in Sebha and Marzak, southern Libya, by announcing the components of its support for the forces of the Al-Wefaq government, noting that it is not reasonable for the government to respond with a welcome statement only.

The fall of the Haftar project
The military expert, Adel Abdel Kafi, believes that extracting the city of Tarhuna means dropping the bloody project of Haftar in the west and south, and threatening its continuation in eastern Libya.

Abd al-Kafi added, "If a mortgage fell from Haftar's hands, its militants would not be able to remain in the Al-Jafra and Al-Watiyah bases, even in the city of Sirte, because of its geographical location, which facilitates the entry and encirclement of these sites."

Abdel-Kafi believes, in his statement to Al-Jazeera Net, that the fall of Tarhuna enhances the strength of the Al-Wefaq government in controlling other sites and confuses Haftar militarily, as well as preventing more military support directed at him by his allies in the "axis of evil", according to Abdul Kafi.

And he confirms that Haftar's request for authorization comes to cover up the defeats he is receiving in the western region, noting that Aqila Saleh believes that Haftar's promises of a military solution failed and collapsed on the walls of Tripoli.
