Finland imposed severe restrictions on the country early, including with strong measures regarding entry and exit in the country, restaurants, cafes and bars have been closed and the province of Nyland was isolated until April 15.

The government has already decided that the school for primary school students will be reopened from 14 May. And during Monday's press conference, the government gave a clear sign that the country can now gradually begin to release even more restrictions.

Meetings are increased to 50 people

During the press conference, Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin told that several restrictions will be eased starting June 1.

The restriction on gatherings of a maximum of ten persons is extended to 50 persons. Spaces indoors and outdoors can be opened incrementally but distance should be kept. Restaurants and cafes will gradually open again and Finns will be able to enjoy outdoor sports.

- It was expected that Finland would slowly but surely relax on its tough lines, says SVT's Finland correspondent Hasse Svens.

Although restrictions are now being eased, many Finns remain critical.

- One problem for Finland, which has had these tough rules, is that many wonder then: “Why did we have these tough rules, why did we close Helsinki and Uusimaa counties when we can now open as much as we do? ", Says Hasse Svens and continues.

- This new line that the Finnish government now chooses, perhaps more than half of the population thinks it is good, but there are also very many who are critical of it. I know several families who will not send their children to school on May 14. Without being asked for permission to keep their children at home so that they are not infected.

Will come a second wave

Hasse Svens continues to say that experts in Finland say and have long said that a second wave will come.

- We will see a more open Finland, a little more from 14 May and even more from 1 June. But then the government actually said that you have to be prepared that if the corona virus gets an increased spread, then we will retreat to some of these openings and close Finnish society again.
