  • USA. Donald Trump's phrases about the coronavirus: "It will go away in the heat"

China has released an animated short entitled "Once Upon a Time There Was a Virus," in which it scoffs at the US response to the coronavirus using Lego-style figures to represent both countries.

Washington and Beijing are engulfed in a dialectical war over the origins of the disease, which emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in late 2019 and spread across the world causing a global pandemic.

US President Donald Trump said Thursday that he was certain that the Covid-19 had originated from a Chinese virology laboratory, but declined to elaborate on the evidence he had to make such a claim.

In the animation released by the official Chinese news agency Xinhua, red curtains are opened to reveal a scene in which figures of a terracotta warrior wearing a mask and the statue of Liberty are seen in Lego figures .

"We have discovered a new virus," says the warrior.

"So what?" Answers the statue of Liberty. "It's just a flu."

While the warrior issues a warning about the severity of the virus and explains the setbacks of the spread of the disease in China, the statue elusively replies, alluding to Trump's attitude in his press conferences, where he played down the severity of the Covid-19 .

"Are you listening?" Asks the warrior as 'Liberty' begins to turn red with fever and receives an intravenous injection.

"We are always right, even when we contradict ourselves," replies the statue.

"That is what I love about you Americans, your consistency," replies the warrior.

Since Xinhua released it on its official YouTube channel "New China TV" on April 29, the video has had more than 960,000 views and has been retweeted by Chinese diplomats. Everything, despite the fact that both YouTube and Twitter are blocked in the Asian giant.

Lego has stated that it is not involved in the animation.
