Venezuelan authorities say they foiled a new coup on Sunday. And this time it is by sea that the supposed "terrorists" would have tried to enter Venezuelan territory. As the government again accuses Washington of being behind the operation, it raises many doubts as to its veracity.

The attempted maritime intrusion had just taken place on Sunday morning when Justice Minister Nestor Reverol spoke on a public television channel.
“ A group of terrorist mercenaries from Colombia attempted to enter the territory with speedboats through the coasts of the state of Guaira. Their aim was to commit terrorist acts in the country, assassinations of leaders of the revolutionary government and through it a new coup attempt. "
When informed of the operation, the Venezuelan army reportedly intervened immediately. Eight suspected terrorists were killed, two others arrested and a whole arsenal was seized, according to Diosdado Cabello, for whom the sponsor of the operation is in no doubt.
“ It was a plan orchestrated from the United States, using DEA and drug traffickers for a military incursion into our country. It is shameful that Venezuelans participate in this kind of operation. "
An operation which also raises doubts. Particularly for retired general Herbert García Plaza, who considers it highly improbable that the group has landed in an urbanized area and so close to Caracas after having skirted the Venezuelan coast for more than 800 km in single speedboats.
