Cameras have previously been installed at the Öresund Bridge, in the port of Helsingborg and the Värtahamnen in Stockholm. Soon there can also be regular monitoring in Karlskrona and Karlshamn, according to a list that BLT has taken part of. In total, there are about 20 places that are planned to be monitored throughout the country.

Customs uses so-called ANPR cameras, which can read number plates automatically and link them with different information in the customs notification register.

The camera surveillance means that the Customs Agency will have extended opportunities to identify vehicles that have previously been difficult to detect. With the introduction, the number of serious seizures of drugs, weapons and other smuggling is expected to increase, according to the Customs Administration.
