Private schools in Abu Dhabi have informed students with students to cancel the exams at the end of the current school year, and replace them with some mandatory assessment tasks, in addition to relying on the knowledge evidence for the first and second semesters in determining the final evaluation of students.
She attributed her decisions to the challenges that the educational process is currently experiencing, which hinders the holding of remote exams.
In detail, private schools have indicated that, with the approaching weeks of the school year approaching, arrangements for year-end assessments have sparked a lot of debate in all schools, due to difficulties in conducting remote exams, and in trying to ensure that they are completed independently and fairly by all students.
She pointed out that focus was placed on three main priorities when making decisions, which included ensuring that students have equal opportunities and time to complete work, assignments and assessments, and ensuring that the level of students in any subject is not negatively affected, in addition to ensuring that there is no unnecessary additional pressure or pressure On students and their families at this time.
The schools announced that as a result of the large number of challenges, there will be no end-year exams as usual, and that all work done by students in the classroom, which included homework, projects, and progress checks throughout the year will contribute to determining their final marks, in addition to relying on knowledge and evidence For each child in the first and second semesters of assessments.
Schools stressed the need to complete and submit all tasks and attend interactive lessons remotely wherever possible over the next few weeks to provide evidence of the progress of the child, noting that from now until the end of the school year there will be some mandatory tasks of remote evaluation, and the usual progress tests for students In basic subjects such as Arabic, English, Mathematics and Science.
Schools stressed that these tasks are not exams, but they are necessary and must be completed and submitted through the required schedules set by the teachers, in order to complete the evaluation guides that teachers currently have about each student, indicating that students will be able to work independently in these tasks. And applying their knowledge, skills, critical thinking and research capabilities, which are the main features of successful learners in the twenty-first century.
Schools indicated that all other subjects will use all the work that students have accomplished throughout the year to issue an accurate judgment on the level of their attainment based on evidence, indicating that they will issue a timetable for each stage of the school indicating when the tasks will be carried out, and invited the students and their families To the necessity to adhere to the tasks and present them on the specified dates so that their final evaluation is not affected.
On the other hand, the Department of Education and Knowledge stressed the necessity of the students ’families communicating with the school administrations to know the dates of the tests and the method for calculating the grades due to the difference in this matter according to the curriculum applied by each school.
She noted that the tests of the Ministry of Education materials for the twelfth grade students in private schools, "the Arabic language tests and Islamic education", were postponed until further notice, and the schools will be informed of their contract method and the method of calculating grades.
