Over the past day, a number of regions have stepped over the mark of 1 thousand sick. This list includes Tatarstan, Bashkiria and the Leningrad region. Moscow remains the leader in the number of new and previously identified cases.

In the capital, 5948 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded per day. On the previous day, 5358 new infected were identified in the city, a day earlier - 3561.

According to the headquarters, 84.5% of new cases are under the age of 65: the proportion of those infected in the range of 18–45 years is 39.2%, and at the age of 46–65, another 36%. Among the new cases of children, 9.3%. In the category from 66 to 79 years old there are 10% of new cases, over 80 years old - 5.5%.

The increase in the number of registered cases can be explained by an increase in the volume of testing, explained the virologist of the Gamalei Institute, the head of the department of microbiology of latent infections Viktor Zuev.

“Of course, if you do one test and get on a healthy person, then we can say that there is no incidence. And if you do a thousand tests, you can find a hundred sick people, and the incidence will already be enormous, ”the source said.

In total, 68 606 cases have been known in the capital since the beginning of the epidemic, of which 60 848 (88.7%) are currently ill. 7029 (10.2%) people recovered, 729 (1.1%) died.

Over the last day in Moscow, another 655 patients recovered from coronavirus, said Anastasia Rakova, deputy mayor of the capital on social development issues.

“The number of people who have recovered continues to increase - in the past few days, we have been recording more than 600 people every day,” the mayor quoted as saying.

At the same time, on the evening of May 2, 34 patients died in Moscow with pneumonia and a confirmed result for a new type of coronavirus.

Restrictions in Moscow

Earlier, Moscow authorities spoke about possible changes in access control in the capital. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that, if necessary, these standards can be tightened, but also did not rule out their weakening.

In the film “Dangerous Virus 4” on the TV channel “Russia 1”, Sobyanin called the current digital pass system “a more precise tuning tool”, with which you can vary the number of people on the streets.

“If we need to reduce the flow of people on the roads, in the subway, then we will simply reduce the volume of issuing digital passes, and tighten the control over issuing passes and trips in general. If we see any threat, then, of course, I will not doubt a minute, we will come up with a proposal to tighten these measures, ”the mayor explained.

At the same time, on the air of the Russia 24 channel, he noted that the mitigation of restrictions is not ruled out if the situation stabilizes in the near future.

“If we see by mid-May, two weeks later, that the load is still decreasing and we have a margin of safety in order for people to provide high-quality medical care to combat COVID-19, then we can think of relaxation measures,” said the mayor.
