If nothing changes, it will be possible to leave your home without certification from May 11. However, travel more than 100 kilometers from the home will be prohibited, except in the case of "compelling reason". But what do these words mean in law? Lawyer Roland Perez takes stock.

These "compelling reasons" are very practical. They are the ones who allowed some to go out despite the confinement, and they are the ones who will have to be invoked, after May 11, to travel more than 100 kilometers from home. But by the way, what is a "compelling reason" that justifies breaking the rules? Roland Perez, lawyer and columnist on Europe 1, answers you.

The question is particularly difficult because even during the establishment of the first derogatory certificates, which already envisaged "compelling reasons", family or professional, to move during confinement, there was no legal definition. So there is still nothing black and white written for post-containment, when these "compelling reasons" will allow us to go further than the statutory 100 kilometers.

The compelling reasons left to the discretion of the police

Logically, the professional reason is easily justifiable by an employment contract, a pay slip, an internship agreement or a certificate from an employer. On the other hand, for a "compelling family reason", it is a question of authorizing displacements whose necessity cannot be called into question. We can cite the serious illness of a loved one, the accompaniment of a vulnerable or not independent person, the death of a parent, a planned move or the execution of a judgment fixing the residence of the children. In this case it will be necessary to have official documents to justify the reason.

CORONAVIRUS ESSENTIALS
> Partial unemployment: the parents' situation clarified

> A new inflammatory disease affecting children linked to the coronavirus?

> What will shopping be like after May 11?

> The French will have to go on vacation near their home

> Why going to the hairdresser will cost more after confinement

What is certain, however, is that there is no "official list" of compelling reasons. They were not clearly defined by the emergency law on the health crisis and therefore remain completely subjective, left to the interpretation of the police. Which can sometimes produce very delicate situations.
