02 May 2020 As far as we learn, the Minister of Justice Alfonso Bonafede has chosen Bernardo Petralia, known as Dino, the Prosecutor General of Reggio Calabria and magistrate in the front line in the fight against mafias and organized crime, as the new head of the Department of Prison Administration. The Guardasigilli will announce the appointment on the same day.

Originally from Trapani, 67 years old, former member of the CSM from 2006 to 2011 and consultant to the Parliamentary Antimafia Commission, Petralia will take the place of Francesco Basentini, who resigned after the controversies that have invested him in the last few weeks for the management of penitentiaries, in particular for the riots that broke out and for the release of mafia bosses.

The deputy director of the Dap has already been appointed. Roberto Tartaglia, authorized to the new assignment on Wednesday by the Superior Council of the judiciary, is also an anti-mafia magistrate: for ten years he has been substitute prosecutor of the Republic in Palermo, where he has managed numerous prisoners subjected to the 41-bis regime, from Salvatore Riina to Leoluca Bagarella to the brothers Giuseppe and Filippo Graviano.
